BREAKING: Biden official claims US had no warning of Ukraine's alleged assassination attempt on Putin

Following an alleged assassination attempt on Russian President Vladimir Putin by Ukraine overnight, Biden administration officials are saying they had no warning of the drone attack on the Kremlin ahead of time. 

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the Washington Post’s David Ignatius on Wednesday that he was taking comments from the Kremlin with a “large shaker of salt,” according to Politico

The Kremlin has accused Ukraine of carrying out the attack, though Kyiv has denied these allegations. Officials instead say the attack was a pretext created by the Kremlin to escalate the ongoing war. 

Two US officials told Politico that senior Biden administration officials are working to confirm who conducted the attack, whether ordered by Kyiv, carried out by a pro-Ukraine group, or a false flag operation by the Kremlin.

If it was Ukraine, “we had no advance knowledge,” one of the officials told the outlet who, like others, was granted anonymity.
