On Saturday, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk reached 2 million followers on Twitter.
Kirk’s pinned tweet reads that he had been previously placed on Twitter’s blacklist and labeled with a “Do Not Amplify” tag that was used for shadowbanning.
Under Twitter’s previous management, Kirk had been suspended or locked out of his Twitter account on a few occasions. In 2020, he was locked out for asking questions about mail-in voting. In 2022, Kirk was suspended from the social media platform for naming Biden administration official Rachel Levine’s biological sex.
Kirk stayed off the platform after that suspension but returned when the platform was purchased by Elon Musk.
On December 8, Bari Weiss tweeted round 2 of the Twitter files which confirmed that leadership at the social media platform built blacklists and participated in shadowbanning for years under the watch of Vijaya Gadde, former Twitter lead counsel, and former head of Twitter Trust and Safety Yoel Roth.
Kirk founded Turning Point USA, a non-profit dedicated to promoting conservative values on college campuses.
Kirk has readily debated and confronted Marxists, leftists, and gender zealots and, last year, Kirk threatened legal action against The View after the hosts smeared attendees of TPUSA’s Student Action Summit and forced them to issue a formal, on-air apology to TPUSA for their comments.
