BREAKING: Firefighter shot dead while trying to put out dumpster fire

In Stockton California on Monday morning, a firefighter was in the process of putting out a dumpster fire. Unbelievably, someone shot and killed him.

The firefighter in question was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Captain Max Fortuna leaves behind his wife and his two grown children. He was 47 years old, and had been working for the Stockton Fire Department for 21 years.

At the time, Captain Fortuna was with many of his colleagues as they were working to put the fire out before it possibly went out of control. That’s when the shots were fired, according to Fox News.

A suspect, aged 67 years, was detained and arrested at the scene. The police also found the gun which is believed to be the weapon used to kill Captain Fortuna.

“This is a very, very sad day for this fire department,” commented Rick Edwards, the Fire Chief for Stockton. He further iterated that he considers this incident to be his “worst nightmare.”
