DA Fani Willis defends herself, says she is ‘not embarrassed’ about relationship scandal with Nathan Wade

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis spoke out in a Saturday interview about the recent scandal with Nathan Wade, asserting that her criminal prosecution against former President Trump will proceed despite the controversy, stating she is “not embarrassed” by her actions. 

“I don’t feel like we’ve been slowed down at all,” Willis stated during a CNN appearance. “I don’t feel like my reputation needs to be reclaimed. Let’s say it for the record, I’m not embarrassed by anything that I’ve done.” 

Addressing her revealed relationship with prosecutor Nathan Wade for the first time, Willis maintained that she has not committed any illegal acts, asserting that her “greatest crime” was having a relationship. 

As the Georgia case regarding Trump’s alleged attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election, much attention has now shifted to Willis, prompting her to defend herself.  

The recent scandal emerged following revelations of Willis’s romantic involvement with Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor in the case. This prompted Trump’s co-defendant, Michael Roman, to argue for Willis’s removal from the case citing a financial conflict of interest.  

After this relationship was revealed, Willis admitted to having a “personal relationship” with Wade but stated that there was no financial interest for either herself or Wade. However, it was also revealed that Wade was being paid much more than other state prosecutors.
