Expansion of child tax credits could incentivize more illegal immigration: House GOP

Republican lawmakers are warning that modifications to the child tax credits passed as part of new tax legislation would encourage illegal immigration which has skyrocketed under President Biden’s term in office. 

The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act of 2024 passed the House on Wednesday evening in a 357-70 vote. The $78 billion package still needs to be voted on in the Senate chamber.
