Last week, Mexican federal agents discovered two under-construction drug tunnels that lead toward the US from Tijuana. One of the two tunnels had reached the US, while the other was just 45 feet shy of the border with San Diego.

According to Border Report, the tunnel that extended into the US was found after officials received an anonymous tip. They report that there were packets of crystal meth at the house. The second tunnel was discovered after investigators saw a man “discarding a plastic bag before running into the house,” they said.

The agents checked the contents of that bag and found it contained crystal meth. Upon obtaining a search warrant, they found there were multiple bags containing the drug and ingredients to make the drug, such as methamphetamine hydrochloride.

As Title 42 expired earlier this month, officials fear that along with the surge of illegal immigrants, there will be a surge of drugs coming across the southern border. Representative Darrel Issa (R-CA) said, “Biden’s open borders aren’t just a gateway to five million illegals, record human and child trafficking and the deadliest drug crisis in our history.”

Issa said, “Biden’s reckless policy is also an open invitation to even the most wanted terrorists in the world to come to America. They know they’ll never have to leave. The nation knows what’s going on and this president has only begun to be held accountable for what he has done.”

The Department of Justice reported last month that Cesar Alfredo Meza-Garcia, a leader in the Tijuana Cartel was extradited to the US to face drug charges in the Southern District of California that go back to his arrest in 2012. The DOJ said, “Meza-Garcia is the lead defendant in a 19-defendant indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, and methamphetamine. He was a leader within the Tijuana Cartel, responsible for directing the movement of narcotics from Mexico into the United States.”

In July 2022, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the Biden administration approved a project to replace the border wall at the westernmost edge of the US-Mexico border that separated Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California.
