IRS dumps team investigating Hunter Biden tax fraud after whistleblower alleges cover-up

The Internal Revenue Service has done away with the entire team tasked with investigating Hunter Biden via a tax fraud probe. The move comes just weeks after a whistleblower from within the IRS came forth, suggesting that the department had attempted to cover-up the first son’s tax evasion with the help of a “senior” Biden administration official, later alleged to be Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Lawyers for the whistleblower, who has only been identified as a “career IRS Criminal Supervisory Special Agent who has been overseeing the ongoing and sensitive investigation of a high-profile, controversial subject since early 2020,” sent a letter to Congress suggesting that the IRS’ decision to axe investigative team was “clearly retaliatory.”
