Majority of Canadians want all COVID restrictions to end now: poll

A new poll put out by the Angus Reid Institute shows that, for the first time, Canadians want any and all COVID restrictions to end completely.

The poll found that 54 percent of those surveyed claimed that all restrictions should be lifted. This is up sharply from the last time this poll was taken at the beginning of Jan 2022, when 40 percent agreed with the same statement.

The institute further reports that “women over the age of 54 are the only age-gender group that disagree that restrictions should be ended,” and that “a majority of each of the other gender and generation groupings agree that the time has come.”

The Omicron variant of COVID-19 appears to have peaked in the nation of Canada, and it also appears that, while many more people have tested positive, symptoms are much milder than in previous variations.

Almost certainly because of this, the number of Canadians polled who have “almost certainly” had COVID in the past two months have also increased.
