MTG slams Gavin Newsom for giving illegal immigrants full, taxpayer funded health coverage

On Saturday, Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) said that the record number of illegal immigrants being allowed to enter the US by the Biden administration is “treason.” 

In a post on X, Greene noted that “California is going to give illegals free healthcare, but nothing is free, the California taxpayers have to pay for it.”

“The border crisis is the top issue and I want to impeach but can’t get the votes,” she added. “Would a tax revolt stop it?”

On January 1, California will begin offering free healthcare to all who qualify, regardless of their immigration status, despite the state having a $68 billion budget deficit in the next fiscal year. The budget passed in May will see close to 700,000 illegal immigrants between 26-49 years of age receive full medical coverage under the plan, according to the New York Post.

Healthcare policy expert and the president and CEO of the Pacific Research Institute, Sally Pipes told the outlet, “The expansion was a bad idea when the state’s coffers were flush.” She added, “Now that California is struggling to make ends meet, using taxpayer money to cover non-citizens is simply irresponsible.” 

Border and security and immigration expert at the Heritage Foundation, Simon Hankinson reacted to the plan on X. “No surprise CA, despite budget deficit, will give illegal immigrants subsidized health care” He said. “The question is how and when they’ll get the federal taxpayer to bail them out. NY, IL, and MA want to know.”
