Pride club for kindergarteners hosted by LA public schools

The Los Angeles Unified School District is offering a 10-week, district-wide, virtual club for LGBTQ+ elementary school students, their friends, and “their grown-ups.” This is a club for children ages 4 through 10.

LA schools, which implemented “queer pedagogy” in 2021, offer a bright, colorful poster for their Rainbow Club. It invites children from TK, or transitional kindergarten, to grade five to join via Zoom every Wednesday from 3 pm to 4 pm. The group runs from September 7 to November 16, 2022.

Educators in the district have also shared videos with students and parents on how best to use preferred pronouns, and also encouraged them to check out “boudoir photos” of one of the pronoun propagators.

Prior to the first meeting of the Rainbow Club in November, educators are invited to join an “informational meeting,” hosted by LAUSD’s Human Relations department. These educators will receive a “Rainbow Club Starter Kit” so that they can start Rainbow Clubs at their schools to indoctrinate young, elementary school students into gender identity and have discussions with them about sexual orientation.
