A professor recently alleged that Will Smith’s slap of Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars was “rooted and steeped in a 400-year commitment to black erasure, black marginalization, black silencing, and the stereotyping of black people.” What does that even mean? Meanwhile, the race card was also pulled out in defense of confirmed Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, as countless talking heads accused Republicans of questioning and criticizing her because of her race.
