Samantha Bee’s late night television program Full Frontal has been canceled after seven seasons on the air.
The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that the show was dropped due to a recent restructuring and overhaul by parent company Warner Bros. after its merger with the Discovery channel.
Bee’s show was consistently one of the lowest rated among late night programming. Full Frontal‘s low ratings were highlighted in 2021 and 2022 when Gutfield! on Fox News began consistently beating its late night competition. Gutfield! outperformed legacy shows such as The Tonight Show at the same time Full Frontal and The Daily Show were hovering at the bottom with a few hundred thousand viewers a night.
Bee’s cancellation follows several other cost-cutting decisions by new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslov. According to Deadline, programs such as The Big D and Chad were canceled along with high profile shows in development with Damon Wayons and JJ Abrams.
Full Frontal was considered “rotten” according to viewer rating aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes with an audience score of 25 percent.
