School shooter gets 40 years for killing 1 classmate, injuring 3

Caleb Sharpe, 20, was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Friday for shooting and killing a student and injuring three others at Freeman High School in Rockford, Washington in 2017.

Fox News reports that Ami Strahan, the mother of Sharpe’s homicide victim, called the killer an “evil, hateful human being” and asked the judge to sentence him to the longest term possible.

Strahan’s son, Sam, was 15-years-old at the time of the shooting and charged Sharpe in an attempt to stop his rampage. Sharpe, who was also 15 at the time, shot the boy twice with an AR-15 causing him to drop to the floor and die.

During the course of the trial, Ami Strahan watched the video of the shooting behind partially covered eyes.

Caleb Sharpe’s parents, Ben and Ericka Sharpe, were in the courtroom as the shooter apologized for what he did.
