Trans Nashville school shooter's unredacted manifesto under review by judge, pending release

In April, the Nashville Police Department announced that the manifesto would be released but later informed the public on May 3 that, “Due to pending litigation filed this week, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has been advised by counsel to hold in abeyance the release of records related to the shooting at The Covenant School pending orders or direction of the court.”

There has been public outcry over the release of suspect Audrey Hale’s manifesto since the tragedy occurred on March 27, which has been labeled as “a blueprint on total destruction.”

Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston cautioned against releasing it to the world, noting that while some parts should be made available, the document in its entirety “in the wrong person’s hands would be astronomically dangerous.”

Law enforcement recovered numerous documents from Hale’s vehicle and bedroom, showing that she was “planning over a period of months to commit mass murder at The Covenant School.” Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Director David Rausch explained that “one is specifically a plan and the other is some journal-type rantings.”
