On Saturday, Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he anticipates his upcoming arrest on Tuesday in regards to a case that alleges he paid hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels in the lead up to the 2016 presidential election. After the announcement, Elon Musk, Viva Frei, and others took to Twitter to claim the arrest would lead to Trump’s reelection in 2024.

Mario Nawfal, an activist and crypto entrepreneur, posted on Twitter the news of Trump’s likely impending arrest, writing, “#BREAKING: Trump may be HANDCUFFED and arrested next week. This is as a result of a possible indictment. Could this be the end of Trump?” Frei responded, “If this happens, it will be the beginning of Trump’s reelection.”

Twitter owner Elon Musk replied, “If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory.”

The case against Trump involves the accusation out of New York City DA Alvin Bragg’s office that the former president falsified business records, and that his company accounted for $130,000 to be paid to Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, who acted as a passthrough to send the money to Stormy Daniels to stop her accusations about a supposed affair.

Trump has denied the charge which Bragg has elevated to felony status, which means the NYC DA has attached an “intent to defraud” motive to the accusation.
