US Air Force Base community center hosts Drag Time Story Hour after initially being cancelled by military

Less than a month after a US Air Force base in Germany cancelled a series of drag shows, including a Drag Queen Story Hour for kids, the associated community center is launching its own drag event.

The KMCC, or Kaiserslautern Military Community Center, affiliated with Ramstein Air Force Base, is facility that serves both Army and Air Force personnel, their families, and the civilians employed at the bases. It holds recreation centers, guest quarters, shopping centers, and now, a drag show— for kids!

The event is being hosted by the KMC Theater Guild on June 30 and will feature “Drag Story Time for all ages,” a “history of drag,” and a “discussion on theater inclusivity.” The “out of character family-friendly Pride event” will be held live on stage, and is touted as a “family friendly Pride event.”

The KCM Theater Guild, according to their Facebook page, “is an all-volunteer organization whose purpose is to support participation in theater activities within the KMC.” Their purpose “is to foster, promote, support, and encourage participation in theater activities within the Kaiserslautern Military Community.”
