Woman killed in KC Super Bowl parade shooting was local DJ, mother of 2

The woman killed in the Kansas City (KC) Super Bowl parade shooting has been identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan. She leaves behind a spouse and two children. 3 other victims are in critical condition.  

According to reports from KCTV5, Lopez-Galvan, 44, is the only one to be confirmed killed in the shooting that took place at the parade on Wednesday. She was a popular radio host in the Hispanic community on the station KKFI 90.1 FM.  

The station wrote in a Facebook post, “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally.” 

“Our hearts and prayers are with her family. We encourage anyone who feels they saw something to reach out to law enforcement at 816 234 5111.” 

“She was the most wonderful, beautiful person,” said a coworker and friend to Lopez-Galvan. “She was a local DJ. She did everybody’s weddings. We all know her. She was so full of life.” 

Other reports shared information that she leaves behind her spouse as well as two children. Over 20 others were injured in the shooting and three others are in critical condition. Lopez took a gunshot to her abdomen and succumbed to her injuries.  

In a Wednesday evening press conference, KC police told reporters that three people have been taken into custody as suspects in the shooting.
