Layla Jane, an 18-year-old biological woman and detransitioner from California, is suing the doctors who prescribed testosterone hormones for her when she was 12 years old, puberty blockers when she was 13, and performed a double mastectomy the same year.
Speaking to Laura Ingraham on her Fox News program, Jane said, “Overall, I don’t think I should have been allowed to change my sex before I could legally consent to have sex. Overall, I don’t think I’m better off for the experience, and I think transition just completely added fuel to the fire that was my pre-existing conditions.”
Jane’s attorney Harmeet Dhillon said, “She was not given the mental health treatment necessary. And it was not disclosed to her family or to her that, for example, teenage transitioners desist from transition at a 80 to 90 percent rate and that the majority of people who go through this regretted later on.”
“And so it is our position legally as a matter of law that informed consent was missing here, because it is impossible for a child to give informed consent,” Dhillon added.
The Daily Mail reports that Jane self-diagnosed herself after reading about radical transgender ideology online. She had been experiencing anxiety, moodiness, anger, and gender confusion and became convinced she was a boy and that medicalised gender transition would solve the mental health issues she was experiencing.
